Default I want to HA but...

I'm not ranked. I figured if I play Monk in RA I'll eventually get R1 Glad to show I have PvP Experience and maybe HA groups will think of giving me a chance to go with them...

That failed. I still don't get accepted.

I PuG. It fails because they are completely Random Strangers that have no PvP exp at all 'cept the amount it took to get HA unlocked.

I've tried to get into HA Guilds. They all want Ranked. I try to HA with the PvE alliance I'm in, we fail once and they rage quit. We did IV spike, practiced it for half an hour on the master of DMG and did real well. Went to HA, was unlucky and went against Sway(Nature's Renewal makes hexes 2x casting time, and the fact rangers resist Cold Damage), we lose. Rage Quit.

I've only ever won 3 fights in HA from PuGs. At this rate it'll take years to get r7 Hero so I can get in descent groups.

I PvE'd for 8 months. I started RA'ing nad started to really like PvP'ing. I never really want to stop because I just love to see the Enemy(Real people) fall and our team progress.

I don't want to go back to PvE because I have People Know Me(2) with Legendary Guardian and HM Missions is all I really consider fun and I've done them all... I only really do RA now but it is annoying because unless I play at night I get stuck with Warriors using Purge signet, mending, and healing breeze...and Shadow Form sins... It's Random I know...and I want to get away from the Randomness...

How can I get into HA Group/Guild? Do I have to suffer through RA 'til R3 Glad?...I honestly don't want to do that because It won't make me anymore experienced than I am right now because you can only learn so much from RA...

I've tried to get into TA groups to get higher gladiator, but I get the same result there...bad teams and wanting Ranks...

I want to HA, I want to learn the ropes of it, I watch people on the Observer, but you can only learn so much from that, I want to EXPERIENCE it, to feel the rush of it, and develop "reflexes" to respond to the situations that you can get into in HA. All I really want is a Guild that see's I really want to HA, and is willing to take me on a few trips. If a Guild could do that, and if they see that I have no potential in HA...then you can drop me...but I can adapt to most things providing I'm not under pressure(As in if you screw up once you get booted). I'd prefer to never be in the front line as I am not totally experienced in HA...I can be though if a Guild can just see I really want to learn the ropes...I'll get R3 Gladiator if I have to...I won't like it because, well, RA loses it's fun after you do it a bit too much.

If your rich you could buy fame thats pretty weak though.

If you have a ranger just spam R/D LFG Sway usually works.

Its hard i know because I am unranked and the only way i get fame is going R/D.

What you need to do is go to HA or GToB and try to find a guild that does HA.
You can say your rank 1 glad, how much balt faction you got etc.

Or try to get a guild group far enough to take you on a test run.
To make sure they like you: get at least 10k balt faction so you can run any built you are given, shut up, and run the built as good as you can.

Also, you can run Unranked Sways (try the prime time hours, else it's really hard to find a group) or start your own unranked sway/other team. You'll find there are alot of people like you out there. This will get you around 3 fame/hour, more if you got yourself a decent team.

That's about all you can do.

I was lucky enough to get accepted into a friendly not-so-very-rank-obsessed HA guild after a test run. I didn't meet the requirement, but because I just shut up and ran what they gave me, they let me in.

PS: Get vent installed so you can get on it quickly when requested.

As you can see, at first you got to suck up. But once you get to know um, they're not so bad

That works or you can do what Pat said and go R/D get in a Sway group.

Also Try postig in the "pvp looking for guild thread" or see if you can find a guild that will take unranked players in "pvp recruting"

well GL with finding a guild and with HA.

The easiest way to get ranked in HA is to play lame gimmicks like sway. It's boring, and won't teach you to be a better player, but you can win with it, and at least get to know the maps a bit. I'm not advocating it, but the other options require a lot more patience. If you're opposed to running sway, I'd try forming your own groups. Use simple builds like most spike builds, and advertise for pugs. Even if you're not very good at calling, practice makes perfect, and at the level you're at, nobody will be expecting halls wins or anything.

In my opinion though, the most important thing to remember is to add good people to your friends list so you can play with them again later. With the amount of people who have gimmicked their way to r3, 6, 9, 12, there are a lot of people whose rank doesn't represent their talent as a player. PUGing should be a last resort for when you can't fill a group with friends/guildies.

get in an unranked pvp guild, that will atleast be doing HA daily, so u might atleast get some fame, and then later on try to make ur own groups....this gets fame much faster...and try to stay away from lame builds....

Friends List, that's what it's all about now, make some friends that can get you into some higher ranked groups and hopefully you can make some fame that way.

Either that or make your own groups, people never check the leaders rank, well for the most part and the only thing that will give you away is your inexperience.

Also while i'm making a comment you said "at this rate it will take me years to get r7 and get into decent teams", you're wrong. Maybe not about it taking years to get r7, but about r7 teams being good. r7 teams fail just as much as low ranked sway groups do. Hell the other week I played with some r10 pugs and most of the time they couldn't get past the 2nd map.

It's not the rank of the PUG that makes it fail, it's the fact that it is a PUG. People seem to get confused about this, those teams you see winning halls alot aren't there because they're an r15+ pug (lulz), they're there because they all know each other, they know that they're all good players, and they play together alot.

So here we're back to the fact that it's all about the friends list. The friends list is the key to everything =]

For someone starting out, this isn't really the case. You gain an HA friends list by HA'ing, but he can't get started in HA. "Make friends who can get you into ranked groups" is easier said than done.

Easiest way for you to get r3 will be by playing whatever random gimmick is popular at the time. I guess now it would be SWAY (dumb name btw. SWAY? Spirits will avenge you? Ok.). You won't get good "SWAY" groups, but it's probably quick and easy so you'll get by farming random groups and other bad gimmicks. Once you get your r3, you should be able to get a start with other groups.

Second easiest way is to join a guild which has players in a similar situation as your own - Bored with PvE, looking to expand to PvP. Some guilds in this category have a few experienced players who don't mind showing new guys the ropes in guild groups. If you're trying to play with 7 other people with 0 fame, you're not gonna have much luck either.

If it's any consolation, the road to r3 is a tedious one for most people, not just yourself.

When I first went to HA, i didn't have much experience at all.. but i earned it by using two methods:

1. Acting professional can get you into groups if you are polite
2. Make sure you have the builds they need and promptly change them upon being asked to.

Once you decide which you want to be, just go in "All" chat and advertise the class and build you are playing. With me it was "N/rt WoP Healer LFG"

Having the "Well of Power" build and acting professional has gotten me up to 35 hero points so far, and well I think if you work hard enough and get people to recognize you in HA, you will get into groups more often.

Unfortunately, Sway is the only real way to get fame at low/no ranks unless you can somehow find someone high rank to take you under his wing.

Sway is a solid build, don't get me wrong, but I say unfortunately because, despite being a "noob" build, I regularly see r8+ sway teams forming. HA is in a very bad place right now, and even many mid-to-high rankers can't find decent teams. If Sway gets nerfed, we might not ever see ID2 short of special weekends. QQ

I know how you feel. Just try playing the latest gimmick build, which I gather is Sway, to get R3, then you should be able to get into teams more easily.
I've given up trying to get into HA 'cause it's full of complete pricks and my guild/alliance is too lazy and bad at PvP, so best of luck to you.

ok first of all nature, not all decently ranked players are eliteist.
Only most of them.i realize this does not solve your dilema, however the pvp end of the game has been going on for so long that there are alot of vetrans out there. to win halls now means something. I was lucky i came from the days when tombs jsut opened and no one had rank. and i ranked up with the rest.
I havent done HA in over a year now, i stopped 3 k short of rank 11 due to boredon, and i was sick of the crybabies in vent all day squabbling abot rediculous stuff. Ther are some decently ranked players out there now tha tremember thier nooby days and will take a unranked player that shows promis under thier wing. thats the thing..... persistance and once your in a group play your heart out.
you will start to show promise and eventualy get noticed. OR you can start your own groups. say rank 3 + and anyone that chalenges your rank jsut say this is your smurf account and your other is rank 6 or soemething.

Rage quiiters and lame excuses are everywhere. it dont feel too good when a rak 12 team all jumps on thier rank 6 accounts and pumbles some poor nubs just learning. and to make it worse, these "mature" players rub it in with thier silly wolf emote and really they are rank 12.Just ranking up a smurf account.

so dont lose heart when you get rollled. rank dont mean shit in HA. the REAL pros know this and can spot promising players a mile off.

You never know what the true rank of a group that jsut raped you really is on thier main account. do take the eyes of the fame and play the game.Only scrubs are impressed by emotes alone. any clown can pop out a tiger these days. dont mean its a good group

As for playing the gimick builds, play them ONLY LONG ENOUGH to learn thier weakness.
Then exploit that and lern to farm the meta.Play the meta. learn it. exploit it.NEVER STAY in it.

I want to HA but... I have no friends?

Rank is for pugging if u haven't noticed it yet.
Get friends, not rank.

And srsly Anet has alrdy ruined the meaning of rank by double fame weekends.

Most people's friends share similar interests with them. If someone is trying to get started in HA, he or she most likely does not have many HA-proficient friends.
